Fresh Air Fund says one week remaining to place 200 children with host families

One of my favorite charities, The Fresh Air Fund, makes it possible for boys and girls who reside in low-income communities in New York City to enjoy the experience of spending two weeks of life outside the city each summer.
They are boys and girls, six to 18 years old , who live in New York City. Children on first-time visits are six to 12 years old and stay for either one or two weeks. Youngsters who are re-invited by the same family may continue with The Fund through age 18, and many enjoy longer summertime visits, year after year. Sara Wilson, Outreach Coordinator for the Fresh Air Fund, tells me that 650 out of 850 children have already been taken care of and there is only one week left for 200 children to still be placed with host families in 13 eastern U.S. states and Canada. Your generosity can save or enhance the lives of up to fifty people with heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas and small intestine transplants (see allotransplantation). One tissue donor can help by donating skin, corneas, bone, tendon, ligaments and heart valves

Has your life been saved by an organ transplant? "Pay it forward" and help spread the word about the need for organ donation - In the U.S. another person is added to the national transplant waiting list every 11 minutes and 18 people die each day waiting for an organ or tissue transplant. Organs can save lives, corneas renew vision, and tissue may help to restore someone's ability to walk, run or move freely without pain. Life Begins with You
